Blue-faced Parrot Finch
Blue-faced Parrot Finch – Erythura trichroa
Uncommon in clearings and tall grassy patches, road edges, near rainforest and lantana when grasses are seeding. Often in mixed flocks with Red-browed Finches. Seasonal movements not well known but may move lower in winter.
Try: Mt Lewis (Kingfisher Park keeps a record of recent sightings), Butcher’s Creek/Topaz area.
● Thin high-pitched call. When flushed often fly up to foliage, while red-brows remain closer to ground.
